Ceginau Dyfi Kitchens is a family business. Steve designs; Jake installs. Between the two of them, and a small group of trades we have worked alongside for years, a project stays in the hands of people who are accountable for the result.
Our showroom sits on Heol Maengwyn in the middle of Machynlleth. You are welcome to come in, open the drawers, handle the samples and talk through the room you have in mind — no appointment required on a Wednesday or Saturday morning, and by arrangement any other time.

Kitchens
We design kitchens to be lived in — where the sink sits in relation to the window, whether two people can work in it at once, how the walls behave in an old house. Then we build it, fit it, and get the electrics, gas and plumbing done in the right order.

Kitchen transformation
The room did not need moving — it needed lightening. The layout, the window and the existing floor all stayed; everything you touch and everything you see changed.

Kitchen transformation · Two
The problem
Doors hanging off their hinges, one front missing altogether and worn worktops — but sound carcases underneath.
The decision
Replace rather than rip out: new doors, new hinges and handles, and new worktops, keeping the layout and the units in place.
What changed
Arched oak fronts swapped for flat matt navy doors with brushed bar handles, and marbled worktops with a matching upstand.
Kept
Cabinets, cooker, tiled splashback and services — a fraction of the cost and the disruption of a full replacement.

Door change · Another house
Solid oak fronts and a plate rack, replaced with painted shaker doors and brushed handles. The Belfast sink, the black worktops, the tiling and the range wall all stayed exactly where they were.

Utility rooms
Most utility rooms are treated as a corridor that happens to contain a washing machine. This one had failing plaster, cable runs on the surface, an odd shelf at head height and a laminate top the machines had long outgrown.
We made the walls good first, then fitted it as carefully as a kitchen: dark painted cabinetry above and below, a marbled worktop, a deep ceramic sink with a drainer, brick-format tiling and lighting under the wall units. The slate floor and the machines stayed. Everything else was rebuilt around them.

Boot rooms
In a house on the coast or up a hill, the back door does most of the work. A boot room absorbs it: coats on hooks rather than chairs, boots under a bench rather than in the hall, and tall storage that swallows everything you would rather not look at.
Built to the same standard as the kitchen it adjoins, in the same door range and colour, so the two rooms read as one piece of work.
Bathrooms
A bathroom is mostly a problem of a few square metres: where the door swings, where the light falls, where things are put away. We plan it properly first, then handle the installation and the trades it depends on.
Regulated work — gas and electrical — is carried out by qualified trade partners we coordinate on your behalf.
Wet rooms & showers
Large-format panelling instead of tile and grout: one continuous surface, no joints to discolour and no silicone lines to keep redoing. It goes in over a weekend rather than a week, and it wipes down in a minute.
We specify the tray, the screen and the brassware together so the proportions are right, and level-access trays are available where step-free matters.

Create a sheltered place to cook, dine and spend time outside for more of the year. We can design and deliver the cooking area, cabinetry, appliances and the structure around them as one coordinated project.

Most of the stress in a kitchen or bathroom project is not the design — it is the sequencing. The electrician arriving before the plaster is dry. The worktop template being taken too early. We hold that programme so you do not have to.
Design, survey, cabinetry and installation are carried out by Ceginau Dyfi Kitchens. Gas, electrical and other regulated work is carried out by appropriately qualified trade partners, arranged and coordinated by us.

The challenge. A dated oak shaker kitchen in a family house, replaced with handleless fronts, light worktops and new appliances — same walls, same floor, entirely different room.
What we did. Kept: the floor tiles and the layout. Changed: doors, worktops, splashback, sink, tap, hob, oven, extraction and a tall American-style fridge-freezer housed into the run.

Every kitchen is quoted individually, because the room, the specification and the trades involved all change the figure. We do not publish price brackets — we would rather survey the room and give you a number we can stand behind.
Yes, and it is a large part of what we do. If the cabinets are sound, new doors, worktops and ironmongery transform the room for a fraction of the cost of a full replacement.
A door-and-worktop replacement is usually a matter of days. A full kitchen is typically one to two weeks on site, depending on the trades involved. We give you a realistic programme before we start, not an optimistic one.
Yes. We arrange and sequence the trades a project needs. Design, survey, cabinetry and installation are ours; gas, electrical and other regulated work is carried out by appropriately qualified trade partners we coordinate on your behalf.
